Anywhere I Can

Get a Moment

About Tomorrow - eBook.jpg

Once, back in the day, I thought I had to be alone in a nice comfy chair in front of an impressive desk to write a book.

Forgetting that the first two books I wrote, I did so at the kitchen table near a window so I could borrow the neighbors internet because I was too broke to pay my electrical bill much less have my own internet (the neighbor knew I was borrowing it and gave me the password).

When readers started reading my books, I then became a diva and needed a fancy office, sparkling water, Tim Tams, and quiet to write. This was a very brief moment in time.

I got over it.

Today, I will write anywhere I can get a moment. Life as mom comes first then I weave in the writing. However, I do have my favorite locations.

I moved into a new home (a 200 year old new home) last April. I fixed myself a nice office all proper and sophisticated… and I’ve never written a word in there. My husband uses it as his office. It sat unused for about five months then he decided to give it some purpose.

My writing desk ended up not being very fancy but it is in a room that is convenient to the rest of the family and I can be mom while trying to work. I’ve written two books in that space so far.

When the house is empty, I prefer to get in front of a warm fire and enjoy the crackling sounds while writing.

During the Christmas season, I also find myself near the family tree. It makes me happy. I will tell you that I am not one of those writers who like to go to coffee houses and write. I am too damn nosey for that. I can’t focus.
