Pepper Winters

A Gypsy at Heart

Where do I write? Everywhere.

As long as I have my wrist guards (those squishy silicone things), my lap desk (with beanbag fleece), and my laptop, I literally work anywhere.

Pepper Winters Where I Write

I'm a huge animal lover so I'd say 50% of my writing days are spent in my house rabbit's bedroom (yes, he has his own room). I have an old chair that sits next to his favourite nap spot and I type away while he sits all cute and fluffy next to me. My feet are usually in a pile of hay and there's usually a stray piece of spinach on my slipper.

But I wouldn't change a thing...it's my happy place.

On the days that the sun is out and shining, Mo (my rabbit) and I will sit outside in the portico and write while listening to the sounds of birds chirping and horses playing.

On the days that I want to spend my words with my horses (I have six...yes, six) I park a camping chair outside and write with them munching around me. Sometimes they try and eat my laptop, sometimes they demand treats and scratches, but most of the time their tranquility and zen flow over to me and I come away from a work session blissful.

When hubby and I travel (either overseas to tropical destinations or local in the caravan), I write wherever I can. On a lounger, by the pool, on the beach, in a field, by a river. My laptop's screen is anti-glare so I can see in the sun and I get to enjoy nature while diving into my imagination.

Overall, I'm beyond blessed to live somewhere full of animals and wildlife, and I like to spend as much time with them as possible. The idea of sitting in an office all day makes me itchy. I've written every single one of my thirty or so books on a laptop (never a desktop), and I'm really just a gypsy at heart.

That's probably why animals play a large part in my books as well as my characters...I share my stories with them.
